Core i5 Laptop

The Intel Core i5  is a dual-core CPU for notebooks with a clock speed (due to the Turbo Mode) 2.4 to 2.93 GHz Each core is based on the Nehalem microarchitecture (Westemere). Hyperthreading technology allows dual-core CPU to handle 4 threads at once (for a better use of the pipeline). Compared with the Core i7-630 520M has only 3 MB of L3 cache and lower clock speed (CPU and GPU). Core i5 Laptop

A feature of the new Core i5  integrated graphics card called GMA HD and memory controller. Both are in a different block is manufactured in 45 nm while the CPU and is manufactured in 32 nm process.

The performance of the i5  is half faster than a Core 2 Duo T9500 and thanks to Turbo Boost, the single-thread applications work even better. Therefore, the i5 as fast as a Cor 2 Duo CPU with high clock speed and it should handle most games and multimedia tasks.

The nuclei of 32 nm Westmere generation can process some new instructions to accelerate AES encrypted.

The graphics card Intel Graphics Media Accelerated HD (GMA HD) is known to have a clock speed of 500-766 MHz and should be clearly faster than the previous GMA 4500MHD. GeForce 9400M (ION) should still be a bit faster (especially since Nvidia and ATI cards have better driver support so far).

According to rumors the nuclear GMA also use Turbo Mode to adjust the clock speed.

The current consumption of 35 watts TDP (max) is for the complete package and therefore is clearly better than the 35 watts TDP T-series Core 2 Duo (which were only for the CPU). Because Turbo Boost, the i5 will use the TDP under load compared to the old Core 2 Duo CPUs. no load the i5 using less energy.
